Its current focus is the transformation of the former Aberthaw Power Station site, where it is progressing a programme of safe site management, demolition, masterplanning and exploration of future opportunities.

Following the acquisition of the site, CCR Energy’s operational responsibilities and financial reporting requirements expanded to reflect the scale and complexity of the programme. This work is helping to establish a clearer understanding of the site’s condition, infrastructure and potential, providing an evidence base to inform future investment and development decisions.

By the end of the 2023/24 financial year, the scale and complexity of CCR Energy’s operations had grown, prompting the organisation to seek a larger accountancy practice with the capacity and expertise to meet its evolving audit and taxation requirements, while continuing to ensure value for money.

Kilsby Williams began working with CCR Energy in the 2024/25 financial year after winning a competitive tender process. Led by managing partner Simon Tee and manager Samir Sadique, the team provides CCR Energy with audit and corporation tax services, helping the organisation meet its statutory financial and tax reporting requirements, providing independent scrutiny of its financial statements and valuable corporation tax expertise.

The firm’s appointment enabled CCR Energy to transition to an accountancy practice with the resources and expertise to supports its growing organisational requirements, while maintaining a competitive and proportionate cost for essential professional services. An added bonus for CCR Energy was that Kilsby Williams is based in Newport, part of the Cardiff Capital Region.

A strong working relationship, cultivated by Kilsby Williams’ partner-led and client-focused approach, and the value of the services provided saw the firm continue to support CCR Energy in the 2025/26 financial year and be reappointed for 2026/27. The ongoing partnership supports CCR Energy’s commitment to transparency, accountability and financial governance as it progresses the phased transformation of Aberthaw.

Sally Howells, Finance Director for CCR Energy, said: “As CCR Energy has grown and the work to transform Aberthaw has progressed, it has been important to ensure we have the right professional expertise and support in place. We were looking for an accountancy practice with the capacity and experience to meet our evolving needs, while continuing to deliver value for money.

“Kilsby Williams demonstrated that combination through a competitive tender process, and over the past two years have provided valuable support with our audit and corporation tax requirements. Their recent reappointment reflects the positive working relationship we have developed and our confidence in their ability to continue supporting CCR Energy.”
