I began my role at Kilsby Williams in September 2023 as a Tax Manager. As the next step in my tax career, I was excited to work with such a knowledgeable team and apply my expertise of owner managed businesses to the firm’s extensive client base, while also embracing opportunities to further develop and learn.
My starting point
Prior to joining Kilsby Williams, I had gained my ACCA and CTA qualifications. Bringing six years of experience with me from a Cardiff-based accountancy firm, where I worked with a diverse portfolio of both personal and corporate clients, I was able to get stuck into my managerial role straight away thanks to a strong technical base and practical understanding of compliance and advisory work.
Although I joined the firm fully qualified, I was determined to progress and take advantage of any chances to enhance my skills and better support clients. Kilsby Williams has continued to support my professional development through access to technical updates, internal and external training, and opportunities to expand my expertise in new areas.
Stepping up to Senior Manager
The firm prides itself on giving employees unrivalled professional experience at every level of their career and this is something I have greatly benefitted from. The team has provided me with increasing responsibility and exposure to more complex client work, which has been vital to my growth as a tax advisor. Their support, guidance and trust in me led to my promotion in January 2025 to Senior Tax Manager.
My role is now centred around providing tax advisory services to owner managed businesses, working closely with business owners to deliver practical, commercially focused advice. I specialise in areas such as EMI share schemes, restructuring, remuneration strategies for directors and shareholders, SEIS/EIS advice (including advance assurance applications) and VAT.
My next steps
Further progression is on the cards, and I am excited about my personal and professional growth within the firm, taking on more responsibility. With Kilsby Williams’ support, I’m focused on continuing to develop my technical knowledge and broadening my expertise across the owner managed business tax landscape.
